We (Adrian and Wendy) were both born in the Netherlands, but grew up in Canada, where we received our primary and secondary education. After that both of us attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, where we received our BA degrees, Adrian in Greek and philosophy and Wendy in Classics. Adrian then went to Calvin Theological Seminary where he received his MDiv. He also received a ThM degree in missiology from Calvin Seminary. He later earned a PhD in theology at St. Michael's University, which is part of the University of Toronto. His dissertation was in the area of ecumenism, focusing on Calvin's view on the papacy. Wendy earned her MA in classics from the University of Toronto and her PhD in Hellenistic philosophy from the Free University of Amsterdam She wrote her dissertation on Plotinus. Our specialties are: Adrian in systematic theology, especially ecclesiology, and Wendy in patristics (the church fathers). Both of us have a strong background in philosophy, which we have taught for years all over the world. We are currently lecturers at the University of Jos in Nigeria, where we teach in the Department of Religious Studies. We work primarily with masters and doctoral students, teaching courses and supervising the writing of theses, but we also teach courses at the undergraduate and diploma levels. In Nigeria we have taught as well at various Baptist, Roman Catholic and interdenominational seminaries. Before coming to Nigeria we taught philosophy for seven years at Moscow State University in Russia. Before that we taught theology and philosophy for ten years in the Philippines. Over the years we have lectured in various colleges and seminaries all over the world. We have three adult children, Sharon. David, and Pauline, who live respectively in Toronto, Istanbul and Boston, and two grandchildren, Gracie and Chris, who live in the Boston area.
